Art Day was a great success! The children enjoyed listening to Mrs. Deal read a story, and were delighted take part in creating many crafts using crayons, paint and lots of glitter.
This week on Thursday we have Career Day and the we are all looking forward to hearing our volunteers share their knowledge and experience with us. It's been a busy week with the upper grades working through their milestones and the lower grades tip-toeing around the building. I am so proud of the First Graders for being so quiet and co-operative.
n ELA we have been working on cause and effect and will continue to do so for this week too. In Math we are now reviewing all the concepts which have been taught this year. This week we will be reviewing time to the hour and half hour, the meaning of the equal sign, and missing equations. In Science, we are in the process of completing animal research, which will become a project in the near future, Important Dates: April 28 - Puppetry Field Trip May 5th - Art Day Welcome back! I hope you all had a wonderful and relaxing Spring Break.
There are lots of exciting events happening this week. On Tuesday the 11th of April we will be having our annual STEAM Night. This is one of my favorite evenings of the year! It is from 4:30 - 6:00 and the children will participate in science, engineering and math activities. On Friday the 14th of April, First Grade is going to the museum. This is a wonderful trip and I know the students will have an amazing time. There are still a few students that need to turn in their permission slips, I have stapled these into their agendas. Please ensure that these are signed and returned to school. In math this week we will be doing fractions. It is important that the children understand that fractions are equal parts of a whole. We will be introducing halves and quarters. In reading we will be looking at the central message of a story and point of view. The book we will be reading is Hey Little Ant! I look forward to a wonderful 4th quarter with your precious children. |
