I hope you all enjoyed the wonderful Winter Break. The children have all returned with happy smiles and lots of news. In writing we continue to work on opinion writing and book reviews. The children have done an outstanding job and I have enjoyed watching them. In Math we are now working on double digit addition with regrouping. This is done using manipulatives so that the children can see how to exchange 10 ones for a ten. Most of the students are making good progress and we will continue to review this for a few more days. In Science we are studying the parts of a plant and the needs of a plant. The children had fun looking at plants and identifying the roots, stem, leaves and flower. Important Dates: March 2nd - Dr Seuss Day. The children can wear red, white and black to celebrate this occasion. March 9th - 1st Grade Performance. Please have your child to my classroom at 6:15. Their will be a short PTA meeting followed by a performance. March 10th - Picture Day and Taste of The Park. April 28th - Center for Puppetry Arts. Please return the donation and permission slip.
